From expanding our adaptive sports programs to welcoming new athletes and volunteers, this quarter reflects the heart of our mission: creating barrier‑free access to recreation, connection, and empowerment.

Our First Season. Our First Nationals as Team Bayou City. We headed to West Monroe, Louisiana (March 26-28, 2026). What a season! We started the 2025-2026 season ranked #14 and finished at #9. We are proud of this team and excited for what’s ahead next season. Special thanks to the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) for having us. We extend our sincere appreciation to Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, TIRR Memorial Hermann, Houston Texans, Modelo USA, Silver Eagle Distributors Houston, Ashlie Frank, Victor Ventura, and all donors, supporters, and volunteers for making the 2025-2026 season possible.

Our basketball program ended on June 8, 2026. We will resume wheelchair basketball practices for advance and beginner levels in September 2026. |

Softball season is in full swing. Our athletes with disabilities are sharpening their hitting, fielding, and communication skills while enjoying the camaraderie that makes this program so special. Our Colt .45’s wheelchair softball team is gearing up for a summer of competition. Our 2026 Scheduled Tournaments: Your support helps our athletes travel, compete, and shine. We’re excited to announce that Batting Cages Practices are officially starting on selected Tuesdays from 5PM - 7PM! These sessions are a chance to grow your skills, build confidence, and connection. All Bee Abled members are welcome. Equipment is provided, and we’ve got the cost covered. Wheelchair Softball Practices started in April 2026 and will continue throughout the Summer. Please note that these practices are led by the Verne Cox Adaptive Recreation Center and the City of Pasadena Parks & Recreation Department. All athletes are welcome. In collaboration with Move Mountains HTX and Rice University, we were excited to launch our new Giving Back to Caregivers program, which officially kicked off on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This initiative was created as a dedicated space for caregivers to connect, breathe, and recharge — honoring the individuals who give so much of themselves every day. We will resume this program in Fall 2026, and we look forward to continuing to build a supportive, restorative space for our caregiver community. |

Bee Abled athletes and guides took on the El Cinco Cinco 5K/10K on Sunday, May 3, 2026— a BONUS race earned by athletes who go above and beyond our requirements. These athletes consistently show leadership, respect, teamwork, and the spirit that defines our community, and today they were rewarded with an extra opportunity to shine. A huge thank‑you to Houston Running Co for being so inclusive and allowing our members to be part of this race. Our Adaptive Sports Director & Coach, Victor Ventura, was honored as one of the Distinguished Panelist at the VETS: From Service to Sports Panel Discussion. He received an award — a recognition so deeply deserved. Victor shared his journey from military service to adaptive sports leadership, reminding us why his impact runs far beyond the court or field. His commitment to veterans and adaptive athletes brings resilience, hope, and purpose to our community every single day.
